Help Anthony raise $500 to benefit those with spinal cord injuries!
If you are on this page, chances are you may be interested in donating to those affected by spinal cord injuries. If this is the case, you are a great person! If this is not yet the case, please let me briefly explain why this is so important to me.
For the last decade I have been playing competitive wiffleball. I will save you the lengthy explanation that comes along with that statement, and tell you only that wiffleball has been a passion of mine since I was a kid growing up. Naturally, when a friend of mine asked me to play in a competitve wiffleball tournament on a mini replica of the famous Fenway Park, I was more than excited.
I knew that the tournament was for charity, and this wouldn't be the first charity tournament I played in. However, upon arriving to my first Travis Roy Foundation Wiffleball Tournament, I realized that this was very different. I was immediately inspired by those like Travis, who are paralyzed by spinal cord injuries. Many of us think that we have had bad days, and I can admit that even I display some self pity from time to time. After observing Travis at the tournament over the past two years I can honestly say he acts as if he hasn't had a bad day in his life. I say that because he is always so gracious, so respectful, so happy. Surely I know that he has had a bad day, in fact i'm sure he has had many. That is not the point. The point is that instead of soaking in self-pity, Travis has used his injury as an opportunity to educate and help others.
The past two tournaments my fiance' and I have looked on in tears while officials announce a new record amount raised to benefit those affected by spinal cord injuries. Each year the total has surpassed $500,000. I decided two years ago that I want to be apart of making that number higher each year. Even if just by a few dollars. I want to be apart of this large family that gives so much each year to help along research, pay for medical costs and equipment, and foster hope.
So I ask, if you weren't already, please consider donating to my page to help my team and me reach our goal of giving back!
