Welcome to the 2020 Junior Beanpot Hockey Tournament fundraising and registration site.  The 4th annual Junior Beanpot supports the Travis Roy Foundation in its efforts to help spinal cord injury survivors lead more independent and hopeful lives. The Junior Beanpot also introduces the next generation of Boston-area hockey players to philanthropy.

The Junior Beanpot started in 2017 as the Bar Mitzvah project of then 13-year old, Jacob Gurdin.  At the time, he played for the Boston Junior Eagles. He motivated his team to play with the Junior Huskies, Crimson, and Terriers in the first Junior Beanpot Tournament to benefit the Travis Roy Foundation at the newly opened Warrior Arena. Through 3 years, the Junior Beanpot has raised over $70,000 for the spinal cord injury survivors.

This year's Junior Beanpot will have both a high school component and a youth tournament with all proceeds benefiting the foundation.

  • High School Hockey Teams: Participating high school teams will dedicate regular season games to the Junior Beanpot and the Travis Roy Foundation while working to raise a minimum of $1,000 per team. There is a $25 entry fee for each participating high school team.  Interested high school teams should contact Lisa Gurdin @ lsgurdin@gmail.com. Currently, there are two Jr. Beanpot high school games scheduled:
  • Brookline High School vs. Plymouth South on February 19 at Boston University's Walter Brown Arena.
  • Worcester Academy Girls Team vs. Canterbury on February 29 at Worcester Ice Center.
  • Second, on February 23, 2019, young hockey players will have a chance to play competitive hockey while raising money at the Junior Beanpot Youth Tournament at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA.  The Tournament will consist of about 12 teams at the Squirt, Peewee and Bantam levels.  Each team will play two games and will participate in opening ceremonies that will include remarks from tournament founder, Jacob Gurdin, live national anthem, and special guest, Travis Roy. The entry fee for the youth teams is $1,000, with $100 paid upon registration and the balance due as the event approaches (date TBD).  All proceeds benefit the Foundation.

This year, we encourage teams to ask their players to engage in fundraising efforts prior to the event, which will raise our support for the Travis Roy Foundation.  If every player could raise $200, we could increase our support of the TRF by $40,000!  By registering, your team and your players will gain access to an easy-to-use and secure fundraising webpage that they can can use to ask friends and family members to support the tournament and the foundation.  The tournament organizers will also provide participants with additional fundraising ideas, such as selling raffle tickets and organizing fundraisers (e.g., bake sales).

Coaches must register their team to confirm participation in the event and to enable online fundraising. In addition, all youth players must register online to complete a waiver prior to the event.  High school players who wish to activate the TRF's fundraising tools must also register.  To register your team and / or player, click the "Register" button above and follow the prompts.

If you have questions or are interested in participating, volunteering, donating a silent auction item, or becoming a corporate sponsor please email Lisa Gurdin at lsgurdin@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support!
