Trinity College Men's Ice Hockey Team
The Trinity College Men's Ice Hockey Team is excited to participate in a fundraiser for the Travis Roy Foundation. For those that know of Travis, have a friend, acquaintance, or family member that has had the misfortune of dealing with paralysis, you know that it is one of the most devastating injuries a person and their family can go through. It is the mission of the Travis Roy Foundation to enhance the lives of individuals with spinal cord injuries, by providing adaptive equipment grants and helping to fund spinal cord research.
In October of 1995, Travis was gearing up to play in his first collegiate hockey game for Boston University, something that had been a life long goal of his. Eleven seconds into his first shift a freak accident drove Travis into the boards. A cracked fourth vertebra left him paralyzed from the neck down. Travis saw his lifelong dream flash before his eyes.
After the accident, Travis was faced with a new life adventure. In creating The Travis Roy Foundation which helps others who suffer from paralysis and raises money for spinal cord research, Travis has used his determination to touch the lives of millions. The foundation was established in 1997 and to this day Travis travels throughout the country to tell his story and support others who have faced similar traumatizing accidents.
On Friday, February 10th, the Trinity College Men's Ice Hockey Team will face off against Colby College. Trinity currently holds a 11-6-3 overall record and is ranked 15th in the country. During that game we will be selling t-shirts and will have a raffle for special prizes, with all proceeds benefitting The Travis Roy Foundation. We are also accepting online donations leading up to the game. All donations help and are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support!
